Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, pre-existing condition limitations have been eliminated for group health plans. As a result, after December 31, 2014 it is no longer necessary for health plans and issuers to issue Certificates of Creditable Coverage, previously required under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
