Social Network Background Check Bill Goes to Governor's Desk

Printer-friendly version

A bill permitting applicants and employees to sue employers for requiring the disclosure of social network usernames and passwords has been sent to the Governor’s desk. The bill would also make it unlawful for employers to ask individuals if they have social network profiles. Nothing in the bill requires employers to get permission before they review profiles that are public. The Governor has 90-days to sign, veto or conditionally veto the bill.
