EANJ Recognized as “Health Care Hero”

May 2012

John Sarno, EANJ’s president, accepts the Health Care Heroes award for EANJ.

The Employers Association of New Jersey (EANJ) has been named a finalist in the Corporate Achievement category in the 2012 NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes awards program.  The recognition is due to EANJ’s Affiliated Physicians & Employers Health Plan, which permits employers of any size to have the same choice of health care plans and premium savings as a big corporation with thousands of employees.  More than 900 New Jersey employers currently purchase their health care from the Plan.

The Plan is organized as a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA) and is administered by Qualcare, Inc. Through the Plan, EANJ members can provide exceptional health care coverage to their employees at substantial savings.

Originally available only to medical providers in the state who were tired of buying one-size fits all health plans at expensive prices from insurance companies, EANJ members are eligible for the same outstanding healthcare coverage that physicians and their families enjoy - highest quality, more choice and highly competitive rates.

“We are honored to be a finalist in the Healthcare Heroes awards program,” says John Sarno, president of EANJ. “We believe deeply in helping employers in New Jersey maintain a healthy and productive workforce and we are providing tremendous value to employers in the state.”

The Healthcare Heroes awards program honors individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of healthcare in New Jersey.  Finalists were selected in eleven categories:  Corporate Achievement, Education Hero-Individual, Education Hero-Organization, Hospital of the Year, Innovation Hero-Individual, Innovation Hero-Organization, Nurse of the Year, Nursing Home/Assisted Living Facility of the Year, Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center of the Year, Physician of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Finalists and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including: Mary Ann T. Donohue, Ph.D., RN, APN, NEA-BC, Jersey Shore University Medical Center; Dr. Richard Dool, Seton Hall University; Dr. Vincent Grasso; D.N. Lombardi, Ph.D., USMC®, Stevens Healthcare Partnerships; Dean Paranicas, Healthcare Institute of New Jersey and David Taylor, New Jersey Patient Care and Access Coalition.

The Healthcare Heroes awards finalists will be recognized and the winners in each category will be announced during a breakfast awards ceremony on June 19, 2012 at the Palace in Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey.
