The Elements of an Equal Pay Audit Using Market Data to Support Your Analysis

Printer-friendly version
Time:9am-12pm
Location:EANJ Training Room, Livingston
Sponsored by:EANJ

It is unlawful for an employer to offer lower pay and benefits to a worker protected by the state Law Against Discrimination, which includes "protected classes" such as women and minorities, compared with others who perform "substantially similar work." To be proactive, employers may want to conduct an internal audit to determine compliance with the law, based on a foundation of market data that examines the competitiveness of pay overall at your company. This seminar will summarize the steps for a market study to support the pay audit, and the statistical methodologies that can be used, including:

  • The elements of a compensation audit,
  • Determining relevant data,
  • The importance of accurate job information
  • Conducting a competitive market study
  • Understanding the statistics of pay structure design,
  • Defining a salary structure, calculating minimums and maximums of a pay range, and creating and analyzing pay range widths, and
  • Methodology for determining pay equity.

The seminar will open with a summary of the Diane B. Allen Equal Pay Act, presented by John Sarno, Esq., President of EANJ.
