New Jersey HR Law Summary

Time:9am-12pm
Location:EANJ Training Room
Sponsored by:EANJ

EANJ offices will reopen on Thursday November 1st and this session will be held as scheduled on Friday November 2nd.

There are important employment laws specific to New Jersey which, if violated, create substantial liability for employers.  These laws are not invalidated by equivalent federal laws and are applicable within the state.  In New Jersey, employee protections are often greater under state laws than federal laws and most provide for a jury trial for an aggrieved party and an opportunity to obtain monetary awards. These laws include:

•    The Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA);
•    N.J. Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD);
•    N.J. Family Leave Act (NJFLA);
•    N.J. Military Leave Law;
•    N.J. Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (NJWARN); and the
•    Worker Freedom from Employer Intimidation Act.

This session will focus on the critical knowledge and practical suggestions HR administrators/managers need through interactive discussion and Q&A with a legal expert.
