EVENT FILLED TO CAPACITY - REGISTRATION CLOSED
Due to membership request, we have again invited ICE to address the issue of Form I-9 compliance and worksite enforcement.
In 2009, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched a new audit initiative whereby ICE will be increasing the number of inspections of hiring records of companies to determine whether or not they are complying with employment eligibility verification laws and regulations. The number of audits for 2011 is expected to be even greater than previous years as ICE increases its focus on holding employers accountable for their hiring practices and efforts to ensure a legal workforce.
Now more than ever it is crucial that employers perform a self-audit of their Form I-9’s to ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements and to avoid costly penalties. This is a special opportunity to hear directly from the agency that enforces and audits I-9 compliance.
The program will cover Form I-9 Compliance, including a detailed overview of I-9 audits and penalty process; how to properly fill out the I-9; IRCA; ICE Investigations and current worksite enforcement policy; ICE IMAGE program and other practical tips for employers to avoid costly mistakes.
Speakers will include:
Drew Torpey, Special Agent, ICE
Virginia Matyka, ICE Forensic Auditor
