EEOC Issues New ADA Guidance on Leaves of Absence and Disability

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued new guidance when granting a leave of absence to an employee is a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). While the guidance does not break any new ground, the EEOC reiterates that when an employee requests a leave, or additional leave, for a medical condition, the employer must treat the request as one for a reasonable accommodation under the ADA.
