New Jersey Mandates Insured Health Plans to Cover 180 days of Drug Treatment

Effective June 15, 2017, fully-insured healthcare plans purchased or sold in New Jersey must cover 180 days of drug treatment, although inpatient treatment can be reviewed after 28 days. Also, under the law, doctors will be able to prescribe only five days' worth of opioid painkillers, with exceptions for cancer and hospice patients.
