New Wage and Hour Rules Issued

Printer-friendly version

The Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor has issued final regulations that redefine the three recognized white collar exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) - executive, professional and administrative - and clarify exemptions for outside sales and computer employees.

The new rules are effective on August 23, 2004.

New Jersey's wage and hour laws have not been amended to accord with the federal regulations.  Therefore, New Jersey employers will have to harmonize two different standards.
