NJ DOL Issues Proposed 'Rounding' Rule Regulations

Printer-friendly version

The NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development is proposing to adopt new rules which would address the use of time clocks and, in particular, “rounding” practices.  Currently, NJ Wage Payment Law requires non-exempt employees to be paid for “all time worked” and the Department discourages the use of rounding on timecards.  This new rule seeks to bring NJ law in line with the federal law, adopting the federal regulations on rounding verbatim.  You can read EANJ's comments on the proposed regulations here.
