Originally scheduled to take effect on February 2, 2009, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has delayed the implementation of an interim final rule, which includes use of the new form I-9, until April 3, 2009. In addition, USCIS will continue to seek public comment on the new rules for an additional 30 days, until March 4th.
Employers should continue to use to form I-9 with the revision date of 6/5/07 and the expiration date of June 30, 2009. You can click here for a copy of the form.
